BKA SAYS : "USE PLASTIC PLATES AND CHUCK THEM!

BRAHMA KUMARIS RETREAT TRASHES THEIR OWN GREEN PROTOCOLS.

Hello again friends,

Greetings. Last week we went to a weekend Retreat at the Brahma Kumaris Centre for Spiritual Learning outside Melbourne: along with Charlie Hogg and BKA leadership. We were surprised to find, contrary to BK Environment Protocols (www.eco.brahmakumaris.org) that the 100+ BKs attending were served on 'disposable'(?) plastic plates: many hundreds of them...plates, cups, knives and forks: see fotos below.🤔When we questioned this we were told 'Well..noone wants to do the washing-up'. 🤪

'Plastic Free Life' image and text below is from the official BK Environment Wing website: www.eco.brahmakumaris.org

PLASTIC FREE BRAHMA KUMARIS!

Plastic has become a major environmental and health hazard, as it ultimately breaks down into microplastic, which can be found all over the planet.  Meanwhile, the usage of plastic has spiraled out of control - bags, bottles, straws, utensils, polystyrene cups, film, food packaging and more. Brahma Kumaris Environmental Initiative aims to reduce the usage of plastic in the BK centers. Let us help nature by being an example!

Start Now:

- Pack tolis plastic-free

- Avoid plastic in your fridge and household

- Avoid using plastic water bottles

- Buy plastic-free

- Share your experience via mail

Hundreds of 'disposable' styrofoam cups the only option for a cuppa at Brahma Kumaris Retreat Centre.
2 BKs of the Environment Wing rescued from the trash bin over a hundred styrofoam cups and plastic plates, as well as more hundreds of plastic knives a=nd forks, after breakfast. These they handwashed, dried and stacked for reuse..but many more hundreds were sent to landfill over the weekend. And how many thousands over the year?
Brahma Kumaris followers dine on plastic. A few with some green awareness find paper plates...even fewer bring plates from home...

in southern part of India, people use banana leaves as plates and the leaves are disposed of as these leaves are bio degradable. The banana leaves can be used.
